〇bjective To explore the effects of tobacco smoking on cognitive functions and psychiatric symp-toms in first degree relatives of Schizophrenia. Methods 123 first degree relatives were classified into smoking group and non-smoking group, both group were given cognitive tests to evaluate the cognitive functions, and use SOPS, PANSS, MADRS, GAF-M to evaluate Lhe total psychiatric symptoms. Results The scores of BACS-SC, BVMT-R, STR00P-word of non-smoking group were significantly higher than smoking group (P<0.01). The scores of CPT(Continuous Performance Test) -Actual number of responses-2D, 3D, 4D, and CPT - Reaction Time Mean-2D, 3D, 4D of non-smoking group were significantly better than smoking group(P<0. 05orP<0. 01). The score of negative syndrome of SOPS in smoking group was lower than non-smoking group (P<0.05). The scores of SANS, general psychopathology, and the total score of PANSS, have significant statistical difference be- tween these two groups(P<0. 01orP<0.01) except SAPS. The scores of MADRS and GAF of smoking group was significant better than non-smoking group (P<0.05). Conclusion Tobacco smoking was harmful to cognitive functions of first degree relatives of Schizophrenia.
