【Abstract】 Objective To investigate the effect of psychological nursing on mental and cognitive function of patients with gastric cancer. Methods A total of 174 gastric cancer patients were treated from September 2015 to February 2019. The general clinical characteristics, tumor pathological stages and family history of the patients were collected, and the patients were divided into two groups according to the nursing methods: the observation group (n=89) and the control group. group (n=85). The self-rating depression scale (SDS) and self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) were used to assess the psychological status of patients at admission and 6-month follow-up, and the European Organization for Cancer Research and Treatment Quality of Life Scale (ORTC QLQ-C30, scale 0-100) and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale (MoCA) to assess changes in patients quality of life and cognitive function scores. Results After intervention, the SAS and SDS scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, and the difference was not statistically significant (p <0.05). After the intervention, the quality of life and cognitive function scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, and the difference was not statistically significant (p <0.05). Conclusion Psychological nursing intervention can effectively improve the quality of life and cognitive function of patients with gastric cancer, suggesting the importance of psychological nursing intervention for gastric cancer.
