Objective To explore the application effect of targeted nursing intervention in skin damage related to intravenous therapy (intravenous treatment) in cancer chemotherapy patients. Methods 80 cancer chemotherapy patients admitted from January to December 2025 were selected and randomly divided into two groups, with 40 cases in each group. The control group received routine chemotherapy nursing in the oncology department, while the observation group received special nursing intervention for skin damage related to intravenous therapy on the basis of routine care, including vascular assessment, optimization of puncture technique, drug infusion management, local skin protection, early intervention, and health education. The incidence of skin damage related to intravenous therapy, severity of damage, pain score, nursing satisfaction, and quality of life score of the two groups were compared. Results The total incidence of skin damage in the observation group was lower, the incidence of various grades of damage, and NRS pain score were lower than those in the control group; the nursing satisfaction and quality of life score in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Implementing special nursing intervention for skin damage related to intravenous therapy in cancer chemotherapy patients can effectively reduce the incidence of skin damage, alleviate the degree of damage and pain, improve nursing satisfaction and patient quality of life, and is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
