Abstract Objective To investigate the clinical effect cluster-based care on insomnia in elderly hospitalized cardiological patients. Methods Totally 146 cases of cardiology hospitalized elderly patients with definite insomnia were randomly divided into observation group and control group,73 cases in each group. The control group was given routine care, the observation group was given cluster-based care.The sleep process parameters,scores of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Hamilton Anxiety and Depression Scale (HAMA, HAMD) and clinical efficacy between the groups were compared.Results The total effective rate was 94.52% in the observation group, statistically higher than 80.82% in the control group(P<0.05); After the intervention ,the sleep onset latency, awakenings and awakening time in observation group was significantly lower than the control group,the total sleep time and sleep maintenance was significantly higher (P<0.05); After the intervention ,the scores of each dimension of PSQI scale, HAMA and HAMD were significantly lower than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Cluster-based care can improve the psychological status and symptoms of insomnia of elderly hospitalized cardiological patients with insomnia, improve sleep quality and promote disease recovery.
