Against the globalization backdrop, this paper examines how multicultural interaction shapes Japanese literature, tracing the historical roots and cultural context of its diversity. It explores Chinese culture’s profound influence on Japanese literary form, ideology and aesthetics during the ancient "Tang-style" period, as well as the localized reconstruction after the influx of Western thoughts in modern times, revealing the multicultural coexistence in Japanese literature. Additionally, it analyzes unique aesthetic traits like "mono no aware", "yūgen" and "appreciation of nature" bred by cultural integration, and discusses literary themes (e.g., sense of homeland, ecological concern, gender narrative) from a multicultural perspective, aiming to offer insights into the richness, complexity of Japanese literature and the literary value of cultural interaction.
