Objective To analyze the role and optimization path of grassroots disease control institutions in the post flood disease monitoring and early warning system. Methods The incidence of infectious diseases among 658 residents in flood prone areas using routine monitoring and early warning from January 2021 to December 2022 was statistically analyzed (as the control group). After analyzing the influencing factors, grassroots disease control institutions optimized the monitoring and early warning system and applied it in the area from January 2023 to December 2024 (as the observation group, with no change in the total population of the area). The incidence of infectious diseases after flood prone areas and the level of residents' knowledge of disease prevention were compared before and after the application of the monitoring and early warning system. Compared with the control group, the observation group had a lower incidence of post flood diseases and a higher level of disease prevention knowledge (P<0.05). Conclusion Optimizing the monitoring and early warning system by grassroots disease control institutions is beneficial for reducing the incidence of post flood diseases and improving residents' awareness of disease prevention.
