Objective To investigate and analyze the clinical efficacy of metoprolol combined with irbesartan in the treatment of hypertension complicated with heart failure. Methods A total of 120 patients with hypertension complicated with heart failure admitted to our hospital from 2023 to 2024 were selected as the research objects. They were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group by drawing lots, with 60 patients in each group. According to different treatment methods, the control group was given metoprolol alone, while the observation group was treated with irbesartan on the basis of the control group. The total effective rate of treatment, blood pressure changes (systolic blood pressure SBP and diastolic blood pressure DBP), cardiac function indexes (left ventricular ejection fraction LVEF, left ventricular end-diastolic diameter LVEDD), quality of life (SF-36) and adverse reaction rate were compared between the two groups. Results After combined treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group, and it was superior to the control group in reducing blood pressure, improving cardiac function and enhancing quality of life, with statistically significant differences (p<0.05); there was no statistically significant difference in adverse reactions between the two groups (p>0.05). Conclusion The combination of metoprolol and irbesartan has a significant clinical effect in the treatment of hypertension complicated with heart failure. It can reduce blood pressure, improve cardiac function, enhance quality of life, and has good safety, which is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
