Objective To analyze the therapeutic efficacy of valsartan combined with amlodipine besylate in the treatment of primary hypertension in middle-aged and elderly patients in community general practice clinics. Methods The study was conducted from January 2024 to December 2025. A total of 62 patients with primary hypertension were enrolled. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups: the control group (n=31) received non-pharmacological treatment plus valsartan capsules, and the observation group (n=31) received non-pharmacological treatment plus valsartan capsules plus amlodipine besylate. The therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared. Results (1) The total effective rate was higher in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). (2) Blood pressure and heart rate in the observation group were lower than those in the control group after treatment (P<0.05). (3) Quality of life in the observation group was higher than that in the control group after treatment (P<0.05). (4) The incidence of adverse reactions showed no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion The combination of valsartan and amlodipine besylate is effective in treating primary hypertension in middle-aged and elderly patients in community general practice clinics and is worthy of promotion and implementation.
