Objective To investigate the anxiety of parents of children with ventricular septal defect undergoing repair before surgery, and analyze its related influencing factors, so as to provide scientific basis for formulating effective intervention measures. Methods Parents of 133 patients with ventricular septal defect who underwent repair from August 2022 to March 2024 in Nanjing Children's Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University were selected as the study subjects, and their anxiety level was evaluated by using the Generalized Anxiety Scale (GAD-7) score. Single and multiple factors were used to analyze the related factors of preoperative anxiety in parents of children with ventricular septal defect. Results Among the parents of 125 children with ventricular septal defect, 44 (35.2%) had mild anxiety. There were 29 cases with moderate to severe anxiety, accounting for 23.2%; There were 52 cases without anxiety, accounting for 41.6%. Parents' gender, marital status, education level, place of residence, working status, monthly family income, age of children, only child, children with other underlying diseases, parents' knowledge of diseases, and medical expenses were statistically significant differences between mild anxiety, moderate and severe anxiety and no anxiety (P < 0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that female parents, unmarried or divorced or widowed, working, monthly family income, being the only child, children with other underlying diseases, parents' ignorance of disease related knowledge, and self-payment were all independent risk factors affecting the preoperative anxiety of parents of children with ventricular septal defect (P < 0.05). College education or above and monthly family income ≥3000 were independent protective factors for preoperative anxiety of parents of children with ventricular septal defect (P < 0.05).Conclusion Preoperative anxiety rate of parents of children with ventricular septal defect is relatively high, and its influencing factors are mainly related to parent gender, marital status, education level, working status, family monthly income, only child, children with other underlying diseases, parents' knowledge about diseases, and medical expenses. Clinical intervention for parents with ventricular septal defect who are anxious before surgery should be improved. Avoid delaying the treatment of the child.
