[Abstract] Objective To explore the effects of problem-solving therapy on mood and self-management of diabetic patients. Methods Ninety-one patients with diabetes mellitus were included from January 2022 to January 2024, and were randomly grouped by lottery method, 44 cases in the control group and 47 cases in the observation group. The control group used conventional care and the observation group used problem-solving therapy care model. Anxiety, depression, psychological distress, self-management, and quality of life were compared between the two groups. Results Diabetes distress scale (DDS) and Zung's self-rating depression/anxiety scale (SDS/SAS) scores were lower than those before nursing care in both groups, while the scores of the three scales in the observation group were lower than those in the control group after nursing care (P<0.05). 0.05). The self-management scores of the 2 groups increased and the Diabetes specific quality of life scale (DSQL) scores decreased after care, while the scores of the 2 scales of the observation group were better than those of the control group after care (P<0.05). Conclusion The problem-solving therapy model of care can reduce anxiety, depression, and psychological distress in diabetic patients and improve self-management and quality of life.
