[Abstract] Objective To explore the investigation of anxiety in cataract surgery patients and its impact on early prognosis. Methods Eighty-two cataract surgery patients from July 2020 to July 2023 were selected as the study subjects. Anxiety assessment was conducted before surgery, and they were divided into the anxiety group and the no anxiety group. The survey on dry eye syndrome and visual related quality of life was conducted using the Mc Monnies dry eye questionnaire and Visual Function-14 (VF-14) on postoperative 1, 3, and 7 days. The occurrence of postoperative complications were recorded. Results Among 82 cataract surgery patients, 30 had significant anxiety before surgery, with an anxiety rate of 36.59%; The dry eye scores of the anxiety group were higher than those of the non anxiety group on the 1st, 3rd, and 7th day after surgery, and the VF-14 score was lower than that of the non anxiety group (P<0.05). The total incidence of postoperative complications such as anterior chamber hemorrhage and high intraocular pressure in the anxiety group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Anxiety is more common in cataract surgery patients, and anxiety may worsen postoperative dry eye symptoms, reduce visual related quality of life, and increase the incidence of complications.
