[Abstract] Objective To explore the relationship between adolescents with bipolar disorder (BPD) and parenting style and family environment. Methods Fifty adolescents with BPD from January 2021 to October 2022 and 50 normal adolescents from our hospital were included in the study and were set up as the BPD group and the control group, respectively. To compare the general information of the children and parents in the two groups. The Chinese version of the Family Environment Scale (FES-CV) and the Parenting Style Inventory (EMBU) were assessed and compared between the two groups. Results There were no statistically significant differences between the BPD group and the control group in terms of gender, age, place of residence, and parental marital status and years of education (p>0.05). scores of intimacy, emotional expression, and independence on the EMBU scale were significantly lower in the BPD group than in the control group (p<0.05). scores of harshness of punishment, overprotection, and denial of denial on the FES-CV scale were significantly higher in the BPD group than in the control group, and scores of denial of denial on the FES-CV scale were significantly higher in the BPD group than in the control group. Denial of denial and overprotection scores in mother's parenting were significantly higher than those in the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion Adolescents with BPD have certain differences from normal adolescents in terms of parenting style and family environment, which should be considered in the parenting of children.
