[Abstract] Objective: To explore the effects of depression and anxiety on blood pressure control, serum Hcy level and quality of life in patients with essential hypertension. Method: 115 patients with essential hypertension admitted to our hospital from May 2021 to May 2023 were divided into groups according to whether they were combined with depression and anxiety. The basic data, serum Hcy level, blood pressure control and quality of life score of the two groups were compared. pearson test was used to analyze the correlation between blood pressure control, serum Hcy level, quality of life and depression and anxiety in patients with essential hypertension, and to analyze the effects of depression and anxiety on serum Hcy level, quality of life and blood pressure control. Results: Among the 115 patients, 42 patients with depression or (and) anxiety were in the combined group, and 73 patients without depression or anxiety were in the simple group. There were no significant differences in literacy level, gender, drinking history, course of disease and smoking history between the two groups (P > 0.05). The simple group had better blood pressure control than the combined group, and the scores of GAD-7, serum Hcy and PHQ-9 were lower than those of the combined group. Social function, mental health, emotional function, vitality, physical pain, general health, physiological function and physiological function scores were higher than those in the combined group. pearson test showed that GAD-7 score and PHQ-9 score of patients with essential hypertension were positively correlated with their serum Hcy and blood pressure control. It was negatively correlated with social function, mental health, emotional function, vitality, physical pain, general health, physiological function and physiological function score, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Depression and anxiety can increase serum Hcy and decrease blood pressure control and quality of life in patients with essential hypertension.
