【Abstract】 Objective To explore the correlation between serum sex hormone levels and psychiatric symptoms in patients with schizophrenia. Methods 126 patients with schizophrenia admitted to our hospital from January 2022 to December 2023 were selected as the observation group, and 90 healthy individuals who underwent physical examinations during the same period were selected as the control group. Detect and compare the levels of two groups of sex hormone indicators [Prolactin (PRL), Estradiol (E2), Testosterone (T)], and evaluate and compare their Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) scores. In addition, Spearman rank correlation analysis was used to investigate the correlation between serum sex hormone levels and PANSS factor scores and total scores in patients with schizophrenia. Results The results showed that the serum PRL and T levels of male and female patients in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the serum E2 levels were lower than those in the control group, with statistical significance (P<0.05); The PANSS factor scores and total scores of the observation group patients were higher than those of the control group patients, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); The serum T level is positively correlated with the negative factor score, and the serum E2 level is negatively correlated with the PANSS total score, with P<0.05. Conclusion The serum levels of T and E2 in patients with schizophrenia are closely related to their psychiatric symptoms and should be closely monitored clinically.
