With the continuous advancement of China’s “Going Global” strategy, the international dissemination of regional culture has become a key component in shaping national image and competing for cultural discourse power. This study employs the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic model to conduct data mining and hotspot analysis on English news reports about Shaanxi published by overseas media in recent years. It examines the content distribution, evolutionary patterns, and development trends of news hotspots concerning Shaanxi. Drawing on approaches from public opinion research that associate news with audience commentary, the study further explores the relationship between the dissemination of overseas news discourse and regional economic development, thereby revealing the similarities and differences in regional image construction and media attention in international communication. By applying LDA topic modeling and news data mining to the analysis of Shaanxi-related news hotspots, this study contributes to enhancing the scientific rigor and foresight of news discourse analysis and provides empirical support and strategic insights for optimizing international communication strategies and hotspot image construction in Shaanxi and the broader western region of China.
