[Abstract] Objective Study the clinical effects of relaxation therapy on negative mood in senile chronic congestive heart failure. Methods Selected 140 patients with chronic congestive heart failure from July 2013 to June 2016 in our hospital and divided them into study group and conventional group with 70 patients respectively. Treated the study group with the relaxation therapy based on the routine nursing while gave only routine nursing to the conventional group. Compared the evaluations in World Health Organization on Quality of Life Brief Scale (WHOQOL-BREF), Self - Rating Depression Scale (SDS), Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Symptom Checklist (SCL-90) in two groups. Results After the treatment of relaxation therapy,the score of the WHOQOL-BREF in the study group was(69.1 ± 4.3) which was better than that in the conventional group (47.3 ± 5.7). The scores of SDS and SAS in the study group reached (46.3 ± 7.1) and (44.1 ± 8.7) respectively, while in the conventional group that reached (58.1±10.0) and (59.6±9.6) respectively. The SCL-90 score in the conventional group was 191 points, which was significantly higher than the SCL-90 score of 161 points in the study group. The difference between the two groups wasstatistically significant(P <0.05).Conclusion: Relaxation therapy can improve the quality of life of senile patients with chronic congestive heart failure, enhance their psychological quality, lower the anxiety of the mental state, and increase the clinical efficacy.
