This paper deeply combs the development context of architecture in Xinjiang, analyzes the characteristics and formation reasons of architectural styles in different historical periods in Xinjiang. From the pre - founding of New China to the modern time, it covers architectural forms influenced by various cultures and the changes in architectural development at different periods. It focuses on discussing the architectural innovation upsurge in the 1980s of the last century and the subsequent development dilemmas, and points out the problem of the lack of local characteristics in contemporary local architecture due to insufficient innovation.
