[Abstract] Objective To study the application value of recall therapy combined with paroxetine in the treatment of senile depression patients and its impact on quality of life. Methods 150 elderly patients with depression who treated in our hospital were selected from January 2015 to December 2016. They were divided into control group and experimental group using a random number table method, each group had 75 cases, the control group were treated with paroxetine therapy, 20mg orally, 1 times a day; the experimental group were treated with application of reminiscence therapy on the basis of the control group. Results The number of patients in the experimental group was 17 cases (22.67%), the number of invalid cases was 8 (10.67%), the overall effect was better than that of the control group, the difference had statistical significance (P < 0.05). Patients in the experimental group after 8 weeks of treatment, the HAMD score was (11.48±2.15), significantly lower than the control group patients (16.52±2.75), the patients in the experimental group after 2 weeks of treatment and after 4 weeks of treatment, HAMD scores were lower than the control group, the difference had statistical significance (P < 0.05). Patients in the experimental group the physiological function, physiological function, body pain, general health, vitality, social function, emotional function and mental health scores were higher than the control group, the quality of life is better, the difference had statistical significance (P < 0.05). Conclusion Reminiscence therapy combined with paroxetine treatment can significantly improve the curative effect of elderly patients with depression, lower HAMD score, improve the quality of life, worthy of clinical application.
