Abstract: Objective: To investigate the relationship between upbringing and personality for the male schizophrenia inmates(SI). Methods: In this study, 83SI patients and demographically matched 630 schizophrenia ones without criminal act (as a control group) were all assessed by Egna Minnen Barndoms Uppfostran (EMBU) and Eysepnck Personality Questionaire(EPQ).Results: ①The father′s factor Ⅰ of the EMBU scale of the SI group was higher than that of the control group，The mother′s factorⅡ of the EMBU scale of the SI group was lower than that of the control group, the difference between the two groups was significant [(47.84±10.27) score vs (44.77±10.20) score，(35.95±6.28) score vs (34.04±7.22) score；(t=-2.581,P=0.010；t=-2.299,P=0.022)]；②Father′s factor Ⅰwas positively correlated with E subscales in EPQ scale, and negatively correlated with N subscales in SI group;③In the control group，Father′s factor Ⅰwas positively correlated with E subscales in EPQ scale, and negatively correlated with P、N subscales；Mother′s factorⅡwas positively correlated with E、N subscales in EPQ scale, and negatively correlated with L subscales.Conclusion: Fathers warmth could not prevent criminal act in the male patients with schizophrenia, and mothers interference has influence on the criminal act in them. The influence of parental rearing style on the personality of the male schizophrenia inmates was reduced.
