[Abstract] Objective The purpose of this paper was to explore the relationship between creb1 gene polymorphism and the major depressive patients’ cognitive function. Methods 113 MDD patients　and 35 healthy controls were selected. Self-made general questionnaire, HAMD-17, Stroop Neuropsychological Screening Test, word fluency test, logical memory and visual reproduction were used to assess depressive severity and cognitive function. All subjects were genotyped with regard to CREB1 polymorphisms (rs10932201, rs2551645, rs2254137, rs6740584 and rs2551640). X2 test, t test, non-parametric test and Covariance analysis were used by SPSS15.0。Results For the verbal fluency test all SNP genotypic groups showed significant differences; for the Stroop-cw task, significant differences were found for two SNPs, namely rs6740584 and rs2551640; for the stroop-c task, immediate logical memory test and visual reproduction test, no significant differences were found. Conclusion these results suggest that there is effect of CREB1 polymorphism on selective attention and retrieval of long-term memory.
