Objective To explore the effectiveness evaluation and optimization strategies before and after the establishment of characteristic specialized disease diagnosis areas in the context of high-quality development of public hospitals. Methods Patients who visited Southeast University Affiliated Zhongda Hospital between May 2023 and May 2025 were selected as the research subjects. Among them, 100 patients (n=100) were randomly selected from the patients who visited during the two time periods before and after the establishment of the specialized disease diagnosis area. Compare the satisfaction, number of visits, complaint rate, and average waiting time after appointment of outpatient patients before and after the establishment of a specialized disease diagnosis area. Results After the establishment of the specialized disease diagnosis area, the satisfaction of outpatient patients and the number of visits significantly increased compared to before the establishment of the specialized disease diagnosis area. The complaint rate and average waiting time after appointment of outpatient patients were significantly reduced, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion In the context of high-quality development in public hospitals, the establishment of specialized disease diagnosis areas has significantly improved the satisfaction of outpatient patients, the number of visits, and the complaint rate and average waiting time after appointments have also been significantly reduced.
