| Abstract |
Objective Discuss the characteristics and ordinary rules of cases which have criminal responsibility of forensic psychiatric assessment in Wuhu, Anhui Province, providing reference data for preventing, controlling work of patients with mental disorders and preventing criminal acts. Methods The information of 200 cases was collected which were under criminal responsibility assessment in Anhui Changping Institute of Forensic Science from September 2013 to November 2016 using self-made information collection table. Results Out of 200 criminal cases, 170 cases (85%) were male, the average age was (36.60±13.18), 151 cases (75.5%) were between 16 and 45 years old. 170 cases (85%) were graduated from junior middle school and below. 116 cases (58%) were unmarried or divorced. 167 cases (83.5%) were unemployed and peasants. Among all the types of criminals, there were suspected thieves (30.5%), followed by who committed intentional injury (27.0%), and the ones who committed intentional homicide only account 9.0%. After the diagnosis, the affective disorders(28.5%), Schizophrenia(21.5%), mental retardation(20.0%), without psychosis(13.5%) and organic mental disorders(5.5%) were the top five kinds of factors contribute to criminal acts. Full criminal responsibility (43.5%) occupied the highest proportion, and diminished criminal responsibility (26.0%) occupied the least proportion. Conclusions Most of the suspects of criminal responsibility were male young adult with low level of education, unmarried, peasants and unemployed in Wuhu, Anhui Province. The top five factors diagnosed were affective disorders, schizophrenia, mental retardation, without psychosis and organic mental disorders.
