[Abstract] Objective To investigate CT findings and clinical value of brain transparent septum in patients with schizophrenia. Methods 178 patients with schizophrenia were selected in mental hospital from October 2013 to October 2016 as group A. 413 patients with other psychosis were selected at same period as group B.205 health examination personnel were selected at same period as group C. All people received brain CT examination. CT findings and clinical value of brain transparent septum were compared between each groups. Results The incidence of simple septum (12.9%), incidence of septum combined with lumen (9%),total output rate of septum (21.9%) in group A were higher than group B [ (2.7%), (1.9%), (4.6%)] and group C [ (1.0%), (0.5%), (1.5%)]. The incidence of simple septum (2.7%), incidence of septum combined with lumen (1.9%),total output rate of septum (4.6%) in group B were higher than group C [(1.0%), (0.5%), (1.5%)]. CT findings of brain transparent septum[width (6.20±0.45mm), length (8.66±1.52mm), volume (37.40±2.03mm3) ] in group A were higher than group B[(4.53±0.31mm), (6.78±1.39mm), (26.95±1.62 mm3) ]and group C[(2.04±0.30mm),(3.11±0.78mm),(7.04±1.04 mm3)]. CT findings of brain transparent septum[width (2.53±0.31mm), length (3.78±1.39mm), volume (24.95±1.62mm3) ] in group B were higher than group C[(2.04±0.30mm),(3.11±0.78mm),(7.04±1.04 mm3)].Compared with onset age between group A [13 cases from 16 to 20 years old(33.3%),17 cases from 21 to 30 years old(43.6%),6 cases from 31 to 40 years old(15.4%),2 cases from 41 to 50 years old(5.1%),1 case of 51 years old and above(2.6%)]. and group B[0 case from 16 to 20 years old(0.0%),1 case from 21 to 30 years old(5.3%),3 cases from 31 to 40 years old(15.8%),10 cases from 41 to 50 years old(52.6%),5 cases of 51 years old and above(26.3%)], group A was younger (P<0.05). Conclusion Brain transparent septum have high incidence in patients with schizophrenia. As an abnormal morphological change, manifestation of CT is specific, which has high clinical value in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
