Objective To investigate the application value of targeted nursing in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH) patients, providing a reference for optimizing nursing care plans for elderly LDH patients. Methods A total of 80 LDH patients from the Department of Orthopedics of our hospital from May 2024 to May 2025 were selected and randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group received routine nursing, while the experimental group underwent targeted nursing intervention. The pain levels (VAS scores), lumbar function (JOA scores), quality of life (SF-36 scores), and nursing satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results After 4 weeks of intervention, the VAS scores (2.13±0.65) in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group (4.87±0.92). The JOA scores (24.56±3.12) and SF-36 scores (82.34±6.57) in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group (18.23±2.87) and (65.78±5.92), respectively. Additionally, the nursing satisfaction rate in the experimental group (95.00%,38/40) was significantly higher than that in the control group (75.00%,30/40), with statistically significant differences. Conclusion Targeted nursing can alleviate patient pain, improve lumbar function, enhance quality of life, and increase nursing satisfaction, demonstrating high clinical application value.
