【Abstract】 Objective To investigate the efficacy of fluoxetine antidepressant therapy on cardiac function and quality of life in elderly patients with chronic heart failure (CHF). Methods A total of 104 cases of elderly patients with CHF and depression were randomly divided into observation group (n=52) and control group (n=52). The control group received conventional anti-heart failure drug therapy, the observation group received fluoxetine hydrochloride oral 20mg/d on this basis for 3 months. The scores of HAMD and LiHFe were evaluated before treatment and 1st,3rd,6th month after treatment, the cardiac function indexes and plasma NT-proBNP were detected. Results At 1st,3rd,6th month after treatment, the HAMD and LiHFe scores in the two groups were significantly decreased, and the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05);At 3rd,6th month after treatment, the LVEF,CO and 6MWD in the two groups were significantly increased, and the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05),the plasma NT-proBNP were significantly decreased, and the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05);The re-admission and all-cause mortality in observation group (21.15%、5.77%) was significantly lower than that in the control group (44.23%,23.08%) respectively (P<0.05).Conclusion It is safe and effective of fluoxetine for the treatment of elderly patients with CHD and depression, which can improve the depressive symptoms and cardiac function of patients, improve the quality of life and prognosis.
