【Abstract】Objective To explore the effect of olanzapine on manic symptoms and serum uric acid level of patients with bipolar disorder. Methods 72 bipolar disorder patients with manic symptoms in our hospital were studied. The patients were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group. Beck-Rafaelsen mania score (BRMS) score, serum uric acid level and the incidence of adverse reactions of both groups were collected and compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results After treatment, both groups showed statistically reduction in BRMS score (P<0.05), and the observation group had statistically lower score than the control group at any point-in-time (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the serum uric acid level between the two groups before and after treatment and at any point-in-time (P＞0.05). The two groups of patients were followed for 8 weeks, and no significant difference showed in terms of adverse reaction (P＞0.05). Conclusion Olanzapine has obvious curative effect and high safety in the treatment of bipolar disorder. However, we have not found its significant impact on serum uric acid level in this research.
