[abstract] objective To compare the effect of argomelatine and fluoxetine in the treatment of initial depression and its effect on sexual function. Methods A total of 90 patients with first-episode depression were randomly divided into agomeletine group (45 cases treated with agomelatine 25 ~ 50 mg /d）and fluoxetine group（45 cases treated with fluoxetine 20 ~ 40 mg /d）for 6 weeks.The Hamilton Depression Scale - 17 item（HAMD - 17）was used to evaluate the clinical efficacy before treatment and at the 1st,2nd,4th and 6th weekend of treatment,the Arizona sexual experience scale (ASEX) to assess sexual function, and the adverse reactions were assessed with the Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale（TESS）at the 6th weekend of treatment. Results The effective rate of agomelatine group was 86.67%,while the fluoxetine group was 84.44% .There was no statistical significance between the two groups（P > 0. 05）. The total score of HAMD - 17,score of anxiety / somatization and sleep disorder in agomelatine group were lower than those of fluoxetine group at the 1st and 2nd weekend of treatment（ P < 0. 05）.At the 6th weekend of treatment，there was no significant difference in the TESS scores of the two groups. ASEX score after treatment the two groups argonaut Melanesia dean group of a certain degree of decline, and fluoxetine group has a certain degree of rise, argonaut beauty score and the incidence of sexual dysfunction, dean group were lower than that of fluoxetine group, the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion Argonaut Melanesia dean for first-episode depression had good curative effect, high safety, especially applicable to the depression patients with anxiety, insomnia, and the sexual function of patients with depression have certain improvement effect.
