[Objective] To compare the efficacy of aripiprazole and olanzapine in the treatment of schizophrenia and their effects on glucose and lipid metabolism. [Method] From November 2016 to May 2019, 100 schizophrenic patients were selected and randomly divided into control group and research group, 50 cases in each group. The control group was treated with olanzapine and the study group was treated with aripiprazole. The clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared, and the levels of blood sugar and lipid, positive and negative symptoms scale (PANSS) before and after treatment were compared, and the occurrence of adverse reactions was counted. [Result] The total effective rate was 94% (47/50) in the study group and 90% (45/50) in the control group. There was no statistical difference between the two groups (P > 0.05). The fasting blood sugar and PANSS scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group after treatment, and there was statistical difference between the two groups (P < 0.05). After treatment, the indexes of blood lipid in the study group were significantly better than those in the control group. There was statistical difference (P < 0.05); statistics found that 4 cases in the study group had adverse reactions, 3 cases in the control group had adverse reactions, there was no statistical difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: Aripiprazole and olanzapine are both effective and safe in the treatment of schizophrenia, but the effect of aripiprazole on blood lipid and blood sugar is less than that of olanzapine.
