Objective To explore the relationship among social support , self-esteem and professional psychological help-seeking attitudes in medical colleges Students, and to provide reference for carrying out education and publicity on mental health for medical colleges Students. Methods 1055 undergraduates were selected from Gannan Medical University, and they were investigated with the Attitudes Toward Seeking Professional Psychological Help, the Social Support Revalued Scale and Self-Esteem Scale. Results There were statistical significant differences in total scores between males and females (t=-5.663,p<0.05);and there also were statistical significant differences in total scores of ATSPPH of medical colleges Students from junior(freshman and sophomore) and senior(junior and senior grades) classes (t=-9.029,p<0.05);Social support and professional psychological help-seeking attitude(r=0.211,p<0.01) of medical colleges Students were positively correlated, and self-esteem and professional psychological help-seeking attitude (r=0.312,p<0.01) were positively correlated, too. Social support can directly predict medical colleges Students professional psychological help-seeking attitude, and indirectly affect medical colleges Students professional psychological help-seeking attitude through self-esteem. Conclusion The self-esteem plays a partial mediating role between psychological help-seeking attitude and social support among medical colleges Students.
