【Abstract】 Objective To analyze the influence of family environment on mental health of prisoners, and to provide reference for mental intervention of prisoners. Methods Using the method of random number table, 200 male prisoners from April 2013 to March 2014 in Foshan prison of Guangdong Province were selected as the research objects. Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90), Defense Style Questionnaire (DSQ) and family environment scale (FES-CV) were used to conduct the sampling Questionnaire survey, statistical analysis of each scale score, Pearson correlation analysis of SCL-90, DSQ score and FES-CV factor score. Results The scores of somatization, obsession, depression, anxiety, phobia, paranoia, psychotic factors in SCL-90 of male prisoners were higher than those in the norm (P<0.05). The average scores of SCL-90, DSQ immature psychological defense mechanism and intermediate psychological defense mechanism were all negatively correlated with the scores of FES-CV intimacy, knowledge and organizational factors (P<0.05), and positively correlated with the score of contradiction (P<0.05). Among them, the degree of correlation with knowledge factor score was the highest (P<0.01). Conclusion Male prisoners generally have higher physical and mental symptoms and psychological defense defects, which are closely related to their family environment.
