[Abstract] Objective To explore the correlation between bad emotions and life significance after radical operation for gastric cancer. Methods A total of 100 patients with radical gastrectomy and 100 patients with benign diseases of gastrointestinal surgery in our hospital from December 2016 to December 2019 were selected as the study subjects. They were set as the observation group and the control group respectively. The Fear Visual Analog Score (FAVS), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), and "Life Significance Scale" were used to investigate the fear, anxiety, depression and life significance of the two groups of patients. And the correlation between anxiety, depression, emotions and the meaning of life were analyzed. Results The questionnaire recovery rates of the observation group and the control group were 92.00% and 94.00%, respectively. The FAVS score, HAMA score, and HAMD score of the observation group were significantly higher than the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The observation groups life goal, life attitude, acceptance and adaptation, interpersonal relationship, self-control and other life significance scores were significantly lower than the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After radical gastrectomy, FAVS score, HAMA score, and HAMD score were negatively correlated with life significance score (P<0.05). Conclusion After radical operation of gastric cancer, adverse emotions occur frequently, and the level of meaning of life is low, and the negative emotions are negatively correlated with the level of meaning of life. The evaluation and intervention of bad emotions should be strengthened to improve the level of life significance of patients.
