Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of pregabalin combined with short-term spinal cord stimulation in treating patients with type 2 diabetes and post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN). Methods A total of 80 patients with type 2 diabetes and PHN admitted to our hospital from January to December 2024 were selected for this study. These patients were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, each consisting of 40 patients. The control group received pregabalin monotherapy, while the observation group received pregabalin combined with short-term spinal cord stimulation. The pain intensity, blood glucose control, and adverse reactions before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the visual analog scale (VAS) scores for pain in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the rate of achieving blood glucose control was higher, and the incidence of adverse reactions was lower. All these differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Pregabalin combined with short-term spinal cord stimulation is effective in relieving pain, improving blood glucose control, and ensuring high safety, making it a valuable clinical option for treating type 2 diabetes and PHN.
