Abstract
It is estimated that the proportion of the global population aged 60 and above will increase from 10.0% in 2000 to 21.8% in 2050 [1]. It is projected that by 2050, the population aged 65 and above in China will exceed 400 million, and the number of elderly people living alone will also increase rapidly. Due to the influence of physiological [2], psychological, and social [3] factors, the elderly are prone to various psychological problems. Currently, elderly depression has become one of the major psychological issues, causing significant impacts on patients families and society. To understand the research progress on caregivers of elderly depression both domestically and internationally, and to provide effective intervention measures for improving the quality of life of caregivers of elderly depression in China and theoretical basis for subsequent research, this study was conducted through literature search and review on platforms such as Wanfang Database, CNKI, VIP Database, PubMed, and FMRS. A large number of studies have shown that elderly depression poses a serious threat to the quality of life of caregivers. Early attention to this group can not only enhance the caregivers caregiving ability but also improve their quality of life.
