Objective This study focused on elderly patients with tumor cachexia, focusing on the clinical application effect of traditional Chinese medicine care based on quality. Methods A total of 100 elderly patients with tumor cachexia admitted to our hospital from January 2022 to January 2025 were selected as the objects of this study. The patients were included in the reference group and the research group respectively through blind computer selection and equalization, and routine nursing intervention was given to the reference group and traditional Chinese medicine nursing intervention was given to the research group to observe the nursing effect. The quality of life score, negative emotion score, nutritional status score and nursing satisfaction of patients after nursing care were analyzed, and all data were compared and statistically analyzed. Results The quality of life score after nursing was higher in the comparison group than in the reference group; The scores of SAS and SDS after nursing were lower in the study group than in the reference group. The PG-SGA score after nursing was lower in the study group than in the reference group; The nursing satisfaction of the comparison group was higher than that of the reference group. There was significant difference in data comparison between groups (P < 0.05). Conclusion TCM quality based care has significant nursing effect on elderly patients with tumor cachexia, improving the quality of life of patients, relieving negative emotions, improving the overall nutritional status of patients and enhancing body mass. The effect is satisfactory to patients, and it is worth applying.
