Objective To explore the effect of combining improved oral care methods with traditional Chinese medicine preparations in the care of ICU patients undergoing endotracheal intubation. Methods Select 110 ICU patients who underwent oral endotracheal intubation from January 2024 to December 2024, and provide routine ICU care for patients in the order of numbers 1-55 according to Excel (55 cases, control group). For patients in the order of numbers 56-110, improve oral care methods combined with traditional Chinese medicine preparations (55 cases, observation group). Comparison of oral odor score, modified Beck oral score, disappearance time of oral odor, ICU treatment time, and complications between two groups of cases. Results The oral odor score and plaque index of the observation group after nursing were lower than those of the control group, with P<0.05. The disappearance time of oral odor and ICU treatment time in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group, P<0.05. The incidence of complications in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, P<0.05. Conclusion The combination of improved oral care methods and traditional Chinese medicine preparations can effectively improve patients oral odor scores and plaque, promote rapid improvement of various symptoms, and reduce the incidence of complications in ICU patients undergoing endotracheal intubation.
