Objective To analyze the effects of evidence-based nursing interventions in the operating room on stress response and sleep quality in patients with gastrointestinal tumors. Methods The study subjects were 86 patients with gastrointestinal tumors who received treatment at the hospital from November 2022 to November 2024. They were randomly divided into a control group (receiving routine nursing in the operating room, n=43) and a study group (receiving evidence-based nursing in the operating room, n=43). The stress response, sleep quality and postoperative rehabilitation effects of the two groups were compared. Results In terms of anxiety score and sleep quality score, the study group was lower than the control group (P<0.05). In the time of the first postoperative gas evacuation, the time of the first postoperative defecation, the time of the first postoperative getting out of bed and the hospitalization time, the study group was shorter than the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion The use of evidence-based nursing interventions in the operating room during the surgical treatment of gastrointestinal cancer patients can alleviate stress reactions, improve sleep quality, and can be further promoted and applied in clinical practice.
