Objective With the continuous development of medical technology and the increasing complexity of operating room nursing work, the issue of operating room nursing safety has gradually become a focus of attention for medical institutions. Nursing risk refers to the factors that may lead to adverse events or complications for patients during the nursing service process. As one of the core departments of the hospital, the safety of operating room nursing is directly related to the life safety and health of patients. Therefore, in-depth research on the impact of operating room nursing risk management on nursing safety has important practical significance. Methods This study adopts a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods, collecting data through literature review, questionnaire surveys, and field observations, and analyzing it using statistical methods. Systematically search domestic and foreign related literature to understand the current situation of operating room nursing risk management, existing problems, and its impact on nursing safety. Design a questionnaire on operating room nursing risk management and survey nursing staff in a certain hospitals operating room to understand their cognition and practice of nursing risk management in actual work. Conduct a one-month field observation in our hospitals operating room, recording the workflow, operation standards of operating room nursing staff, and the occurrence of patient safety incidents. Results The survey results show that most operating room nursing staff do not have a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of nursing risk management and do not fully recognize the importance of nursing safety. In actual work, their ability to identify and assess potential risks needs to be improved, and the implementation of risk prevention measures is also not in place. Through actual observation of the operating room, some nursing safety hazards were found, such as non-standard placement of surgical instruments, unsmooth surgical operation processes, and poor communication among nursing staff. These issues directly affect the surgical outcomes and safety of patients. Conclusion This study, through in-depth research on the relationship between operating room nursing risk management and nursing safety, concludes that operating room nursing risk management has an important impact on nursing safety. To improve the level of nursing safety, medical institutions should strengthen the risk awareness education of nursing staff, improve nursing risk management mechanisms, and focus on improving the professional skills and comprehensive quality of nursing staff.
