“同一”修辞视域下对外宣传话语英译语言行为修辞特征比较研究

A comparative study of rhetorical featuress in the English translation of foreign publicity disourse from the perpective of rhetoric “Identification”

摘要
本文采用肯尼斯•伯克的“同一”修辞理论,运用Docuscope3.40平台分析了对外宣传话语语言行为修辞特征,并探讨了呈现特征的原因。研究发现三个时期的对外宣传话语英译本呈现相似性,“机构语域”“学术语域”“汇报”下的语言行为类型比重最高,“人际关系”“互动”“叙事”“情感”“指令”比重最少,提出应采用“同情同一”“对立同一”修辞诉诸与受众建立“同一”关系。新时期对外宣传话语“机构语域”“学术语域”比重最高,而“推理”“情感”“主观语域”占比最低,建议应采取“论辩”机制、“不准确同一”修辞诉诸手段以实现终极“同一”,有效提高外宣话语的传播效果。
Abstract
This study is centered on Kenneth Burke’s Rhetoric “Identification” to conduct a comparative rhetorical analysis of the features of language behavior in Chinese discourse for international communication using the Docuscope3.40 platform. It also explores the reasons behind these presented features. The study finds a high degree of commonalities with Institutional Register, Academic Register, and Reporting ranking the most elevated, while Personal Relations, Interactivity, Narrative, Emotion, and Directives rank the lowest. Therefore, it is suggested that the translator adopt rhetorical appeals of “Identification by sympathy” and “Identification by antithesis” to relate with the rhetorical audience. Rhetorical characteristics in the new era show a higher percentage in the Institutional Register and Academic Register, while the lower ratio in Reasoning, Emotion, and Subjective Register necessitates the use of “Argumentation” and the rhetorical appeal of “Identification by inaccuracy” to achieve effective communicative outcomes in the English translation of Chinese texts.
