More and more search engines are using the AI (intelligent) Q &A. It can accurately understand the user’s question, quickly search the entire web, and offer an answer. Take 360 Search, for example. Under the search box, the user can see “Webpage” and “AI Q & A”. Key in a keyword and click on “Webpage” and the user can see a large amount of related webpage content, but also, first of all, an answer given by the AI Intelligent Q&A. If they select AI Q & A, they obtain an answer. The answers given by AI intelligent Q & A and AI Q & A often differ, so Chinese-English translation can take advantage of both to ensure a safer answer. The equivalents provided by New Century Chinese-English Dictionary for the culture-specific terms of Lingnan culture can be divided into three major categories: 1. Non-transliterated equivalents; 2. Definition-life equivalents; 3. Transliterated equivalents. The author of this article utilizes the two Q & A systems to search for the equivalents provided by the China Daily website for the culture-specific terms of Lingnan culture, and to verify whether these equivalents offered by this dictionary for these words are appropriate. The results show that the equivalents of most entry words are correct and comprehensive. The deficiencies of some equivalents lie in: 1. The equivalents for some entry words are not comprehensive. 2. The equivalents of some entry words are correct, but no quoted explanations are provided. 3. Some entry words are provided with definition-like equivalents, which are hardly useful.
