In recent years, historical districts across the Jianghan Plain have developed traditional festival cultural experience projects in response to the policy of revitalizing traditional festivals and the rise of urban cultural tourism. However, these projects exhibit outdated formats and a trend of homogeneous development. This study explores innovative approaches for traditional festival cultural experience design in historical districts by applying principles of innovative communication forms and methods adapted to contemporary lifestyles. It proposes that traditional festival cultural experiences should promote the profound life wisdom and experiences embedded in traditional festivals to guide modern daily life through deeper emotional connections. The research summarizes the practical functions of traditional festival cultural experiences and constructs a logical framework for innovative design. Taking Wuhan Tanhualin Historic District as a case study, the paper analyzes design elements for innovative cultural experiences and proposes three strategies: A traditional festival herbal landscape cultural experience model integrating "viewing," "knowing," "listening," and "exploring"; A traditional festival dietary culture experience model combining "food," "health preservation," and "learning"; Comprehensive stakeholder engagement in cultural experience design. These strategies aim to innovatively reshape the content, forms, and functions of cultural experience projects in Tanhualin, providing a reference for innovative cultural experience design in other historical districts across the Jianghan Plain.
