Lumbosacral disc herniation (LDH) is a common condition in spinal medicine, often accompanied by the syndrome of cold-damp obstruction. Perioperative nursing plays a critical role in facilitating patient recovery. This study investigates the application effect of meridian-activating and dispelling obstruction moxibustion during perioperative care for patients with LDH characterized by cold-damp obstruction. A total of 80 eligible patients were randomly divided into an observation group (moxibustion combined with conventional nursing intervention) and a control group (conventional nursing intervention only). The pain visual analog scale (VAS), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores were compared between both groups, while also tracking complications that arose. Results indicated that on postoperative days 7 and 14, VAS scores, ODI scores, and TCM symptom scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group; moreover, there was also a notable decrease trend in complication rates within this cohort. Relevant studies suggest that meridian-activating moxibustion effectively alleviates pain symptoms improves lumbar function status minimizes perioperative complication risks thereby providing scientific support for promoting Traditional Chinese Medicine therapies within spine surgerys perioperative care framework.
