[Abstract] Objective: To explore the effect of conserving mastectomy for breast cancer patients and its influence on postoperative psychological state and self-esteem. METHODS: 80 cases of breast cancer patients admitted to our department from September 2018 to December 2020 were selected as the research objects, and divided into groups by coin toss method. 40 cases in the control group were treated with modified radical surgery, and 40 cases in the observation group were treated with mastectomy. Clinical efficacy, operation time, blood loss, drainage volume, length of hospital stay, psychological state and level of self-esteem were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: There was no significant difference in total effective rate between 2 groups (P BBB 0 0.05). There was no significant difference in the amount of blood loss between the two groups (P > 0.05). The hospitalization time, drainage volume and operation time of the observation group were all shorter than those of the control group (P < 0.05). SDS and SAS scores in observation group were lower than those in control group (P < 0.05). Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) score in observation group was higher than that in control group (P < 0.05)；There was no significant difference in the incidence of complications between 2 groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion:Breast-conserving resection for breast cancer patients has a definite effect, which can improve the psychological state and self-esteem of patients after surgery, shorten the length of hospital stay, and reduce the incidence of postoperative complications. Besides, the operation time is short, which is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
