[Abstract] Objective To explore the relationship between parental rearing patterns and behavioral problems in children with opposition defiant disorder (ODD). Methods Fifty-three children with ODD and 53 normal children were selected as the study subjects, and divided into the ODD group and the normal group. The two groups of childrens parental parenting style evaluation scales (Egma Minnen av Bardndosnauppforstran, EMBU) were compared. The correlation between EMBU score and DBDRS score in children with ODD were analyzed. Results The EMBU scores of father and mother preference, emotional warmth and understanding, and father punishment severity in the ODD group were significantly lower than those in the normal group (P<0.05). The DBDRS scores of the ODD group were significantly higher than those of the normal group in terms of ideographic defect, hyperactivity impulsivity, and confrontation (P<0.05). The EMBU scale for children with ODD showed a negative correlation between father and mothers preference for subjects, emotional warmth and understanding, fathers punishment severity score, and various scores on the DBDRS scale (P<0.05). Conclusion Children with ODD have obvious negative parenting habits such as father and mothers preference for subjects, emotional warmth and low understanding, and they are significantly associated with behavioral problems.
