| Abstract |
Aims: This study aims to analyze and compare the drinking characteristics, liver function, depression and anxiety, and severity of alcohol dependence between Yi and Han alcohol dependent patients in the Yi Autonomous Prefecture, in order to provide scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of Yi alcohol dependence. Method: The general information questionnaire, the severity of alcohol dependengce, Hamilton Depression and Anxiety Scales and liver function of Yi male patients and age-macthed Han male patients with alcohol dependence admitted to the Second Peoples Hospital of Chuxiong Prefecture were collect. The drinking characteristics, liver function, and other factors of Yi and Han alcohol dependence patients were compared and analyzed. Result: There was no significant difference in age, daily alcohol consumption, and liver function between Yi and Han ethnic alcohol dependent patients. However, compared with Han ethnic alcohol dependent patients, Yi ethnic alcohol dependent patients had a significantly lower age at which they started drinking, longer drinking years, more severe alcohol dependence, and lower levels of anxiety and depression. Conclusion: Society and medical staff should pay more attention to the drinking behavior of the Yi ethnic group, carry out publicity on physical and psychological injuries related to alcohol use, strengthen the awareness of the Yi ethnic group about the harmful health of alcohol, reduce the risk of excessive alcohol use, and reduce the possibility of further developing into alcohol addiction.
