self-injurious behavior (SIB) refers to the behavior of intentionally harming oneself without the help of others, which is enough to cause tissue damage (such as scar). Serious SIB can be life-threatening. At present, the etiology and pathogenesis of SIB are not clear. This paper will focus on the modeling methods, phenotypes and potential mechanisms of SIB-related animal models, so as to provide references for the selection of animal models in different experiments.
