The phenomenon of "adultification" of children is accompanied by an increasing number of prohibitions imposed on them. In the era of the internet, with the exposure of secrets, adults control over childrens symbolic environment has weakened, leading to a continuous blurring of the boundaries between children and adults. Children, who are perceived as "others" by adults, face an ever-growing list of "taboos." However, these numerous taboos have not been able to eradicate the phenomenon of "adultification" among children. Drawing upon Georges Batailles theory of transgression, we can explore the motivations behind childrens transgressive behaviors. As children "transgress" into adulthood, in the face of an increasing number of prohibitions that constrain childhood, the transgressive act of "play" becomes a means for children to complete their self-realization.
