Objective To analyze the causes of lumbar and leg pain in patients with lumbar disc herniation, and observe the effect of comprehensive nursing intervention on its improvement. Methods A total of 90 patients with lumbar disc herniation admitted to our hospital from September 2022 to September 2023 were enrolled and randomly divided into 2 groups. Among them, 45 cases were classified into the control group and received routine nursing. Another 45 cases were assigned to the observation group for comprehensive nursing. The pain degree, lumbar function and nursing satisfaction of the two groups were compared. Results The pain numerical score (NRS) at 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks and 4 weeks in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group, with statistical difference between the two groups (P < 0.05). After intervention, the Japanese Orthopaedic Association evaluation treatment score (JOA) in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) was significantly lower than that in the control group, with statistical difference between the two groups (P < 0.05). The total satisfaction rate of nursing in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, with statistical difference between the two groups (P < 0.05). Conclusions Patients with lumbar disc herniation complicated with varying degrees of lumbar and leg pain, the implementation of comprehensive nursing can help relieve pain, promote the improvement of lumbar function, the patients are more satisfied with it.
