[Abstract] Objective To explore the relationship between depression, personality traits and perceived stress in perimenopausal women with diabetes mellitus. Methods A total of 100 perimenopausal women with diabetes from January 2020 to January 2022 were selected as the study subjects. Self-rating depression scale (SDS) was used to evaluate the depression of patients, and they were divided into the depression group and the non-depression group. The general data, Eysenck Personality Scale (EPQ) and Perceived Stress Scale (CPSS) were evaluated and compared between the two groups. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to investigate the influencing factors of depression. Results The average SDS score of 100 perimenopausal women with diabetes was (44.98±8.23) points, 32 cases were more than 53 points, and the depression rate was 32.00%. There was no significant difference in age, duration of diabetes, and educational level between the depression,non-depression groups, prolactin (PRL) and progesterone (P) (P>0.05), The level of serum estradiol (E2) in the depression group was significantly lower than that in the non-depressed group, and the glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) was significantly higher than that in the non-depressed group (P<0.05).The scores of extraversion and personality stability in the EPQ scale of the depression group were significantly lower than those of the non-depressed group, and the scores of psychosis and neuroticism were significantly higher than those of the non-depressed group (P<0.05). The feeling of loss of control and tension in the CPSS scale of the depression group were significantly higher than those of the non-depressed group (P<0.05). Extraversion, personality stability, psychoticism, neuroticism in EPQ, sense of loss of control, tension in CPSS, serum E2 level, and HbA1c were the influencing factors of depression in perimenopausal women with diabetes (P<0.05). Conclusion Depression is more common in perimenopausal women with diabetes, which may be affected by Estrogen, diabetes control, psychosis, neuroticism and other personality traits, as well as perceived stress.
