[Abstract] Objective To analyze the current situation and risk factors of depression in pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Methods A total of 110 pregnant women with GDM in our hospital from June 2019 to June 2022 were the subjects of this study, and their depression was evaluated. The patients with depression were set as the observation group and the rest as the control group. The general data such as age and duration of diabetes were investigated. The risk factors of depression were analyzed by multifactor analysis. Results Among 110 GDM pregnant women, 38 had depression, including 19 cases of mild depression, 17 cases of moderate depression, and 2 cases of severe depression. There were significant differences between the observation group and the control group in age, duration of GDM, history of abortion, educational level, blood glucose control and parity (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in family history, family monthly income and residence between the two groups (P>0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that age ≥ 35 years, duration of GDM>3 months, history of abortion, educational level of primary school and below, poor blood glucose control, and first birth were the risk factors for GDM pregnant women with depression. Conclusion Pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus have a high rate of depression, mainly mild and moderate depression. Older women, long course of GDM and abortion history will increase the risk of depression.
