[Abstract] Objective To investigate the effect of stage-style health education on negative emotion and sleep quality in elderly patients undergoing IVF-ET pregnancy. Methods from February 2019 to February 2021, 86 elderly female patients who received IVF-ET assisted pregnancy in the Reproductive Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 43 cases in each group. The control group adopted routine health education mode, and the observation group chose staged health education. Health knowledge scores of the two groups at different stages were compared respectively. Negative mood score [SELF-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), self-rating Depression Scale (SDS)], sleep quality [Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI)] and ivF-ET pregnancy related indicators (number of obtained embryos, number of optimal embryos, number of embryos transferred, and cycle cancellation, clinical pregnancy and embryo termination) were compared between the two groups before and after intervention. Results: The health knowledge score of observation group was significantly higher than that of control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in SAS score and SDS score between the two groups before intervention (P > 0.05). SAS and SDS scores of the two groups were significantly decreased after intervention compared with before intervention, with statistical significance (P < 0.05). SAS score and SDS score of observation group were significantly lower than control group after intervention, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in sleep time, sleep time, sleep quality, sleep efficiency, daytime function, sleep disorder and PSQI scores between the two groups before intervention (P > 0.05). After intervention, compared with before intervention, sleep time, sleep quality, sleep efficiency, daytime function, sleep disorder and PSQI total score were significantly decreased in both groups, with statistical significance (P < 0.05). The sleep time, sleep time, sleep quality, sleep efficiency, daytime function, sleep disorder and PSQI total score in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group after intervention, with statistical significance (P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in number of obtained embryos, number of optimal embryos, number of transplanted embryos, cycle cancellation, clinical pregnancy and embryo termination between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Staged health education can effectively relieve negative emotions and improve sleep quality in elderly patients receiving IVF-ET pregnancy assistance, which has certain clinical application value.
